Peter Rabbit and Company Delight Students

The Bowdon Schools' Education Foundation brought The Musical Tales of Peter Rabbit, based on the Beatrix Potter classic, to Bowdon's Copeland Hall on May 4. Bits 'N Pieces Puppet Theater of Tampa Florida brought their 9 foot puppets to bring the story to life for the two sold out shows. Students, teachers and parents from Bowdon Elementary and others in Carroll County and neighboring counties, local kindergartens and daycare centers were invited to the performance which has toured extensively throughout the United States as well as internationally.

Over 800 students were provided the opportunity to experience live theater with music, song, dance and colorful sets. Students from Bowdon Elementary were included in the opening scene of each performance, and as an added bonus at the end of the performance, Holli Rubin (Peter Rabbit) showed the students how the large puppets work and told them how to build their own puppets.

Members of Bowdon Sertoma Club assisted with seating, and the City of Bowdon offered technical support with lights and sound. Bowdon Coffee Roasters supported the meal for the puppet company, and Jan Lloyd, Copeland Hall Director, and Stacy Gann Photography provided images for publicity.

Peter Rabbit is just one of several projects offered by The Bowdon Schools' Educational Foundation to Bowdon Elementary, Bowdon Middle and Bowdon High throughout the school year. The Bowdon Schools' Educational Fund was established in 2009 by a group of citizens and alumni interested in enhancing and enriching the education of students at Bowdon Elementary, Bowdon Middle School and Bowdon High School. To contribute to the fund and insure the continuation of these programs, donations can be sent to The Community Foundation of West Georgia marked for Bowdon Schools' Education Fund at 807 South Park Street, Carrollton, GA 30117. All donations are tax deductible. Or, visit Bowdon City Hall to participate in the Bowdon Water Department check-off for the Fund.
